The world thinks of Brazil as covered in green jungle. But in fact, a third of the country is quite dry, much like west Texas. Leandro Júnior’s work springs from this dry sertão region, and as such reflects a unique perspective that is not attached to the worldwide allure of Brazil’s two, huge, metropolitan artistic communities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. And perhaps that's the reason why he's appeared on so many television shows in the past two years.
